JKBOSE Announces Syllabus Relaxation for Class 10th, 11th & 12th Students — Check Order Here
Srinagar, Oct 4: In a major relief to students, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially announced relaxation in syllabus for students of Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th who will appear in the upcoming Annual Regular 2025 examinations.
According to the official notification issued by the Academic Division of JKBOSE, the decision was taken after several pleas from students, teachers, and education officers, especially due to the academic delays caused this year.
The Board said that the ongoing session was affected by the delayed start of classes, long heat waves, and recent torrential rains and floods that disrupted normal schooling across Kashmir and parts of Jammu Division. Taking all this into consideration, JKBOSE has approved syllabus relaxation for students appearing in the upcoming exams to be held between October and November 2025.
Officials said the decision aims to ensure that students are not burdened due to circumstances beyond their control. The relaxation will apply to all eligible students of Kashmir Division, winter zone areas of Jammu Division, and the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Under this new update, students will now have to attempt only a portion of the question paper, and the marks attempted will be treated as full marks. However, JKBOSE has clarified that the question papers will still be set from the entire prescribed syllabus.
Students will have the flexibility to attempt only the required portion from the paper, taking advantage of internal choices provided in each subject. The Board also mentioned that this pattern will apply to grammar sections in language papers as well as multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each MCQ attempted by students will be evaluated separately.
The order was issued from the JKBOSE offices in Bemina, Srinagar, and Rehari Colony, Jammu, with formal approval from the competent authority after consultation with the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) and Jammu.
Meanwhile, JKBOSE has urged students to use this opportunity wisely and to continue preparing seriously for their annual exams. Officials have also appealed to teachers and invigilators to maintain the fairness and sanctity of the examination process across all centers.
The School Education Department and concerned district officials have been directed to extend full cooperation to ensure smooth and fair conduct of exams.
This announcement comes at a time when the education sector in Jammu and Kashmir has been facing multiple challenges; from irregular academic calendars to weather-related disruptions. The move is expected to provide major relief and support to thousands of students preparing for their board examinations across the Union Territory.
