50 Doctors Transferred Across Kashmir in Major Health Department Reshuffle
Srinagar, 4 January: The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has ordered the immediate transfer and posting of 50 doctors across health institutions in the Union Territory to strengthen medical services and address staff shortages at district, sub-district and community health centres.
The order, issued on January 4, 2026, directs all Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents to ensure that the doctors join their new places of posting without delay. The department has asked for compliance reports within three days, warning that failure to implement the order will invite disciplinary action under the J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.
The postings cover a wide range of medical specialities including Pediatrics, Anaesthesiology, ENT, Gynaecology, Radiology, Orthopaedics, General Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, and Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion. Officials said the move is aimed at improving specialist care in hospitals that were facing manpower gaps.
