J&K Govt Likely to Announce Early Winter Vacation for KG Students

Srinagar, Nov 24: The Jammu and Kashmir government is preparing to announce early winter vacations for kindergarten classes across the Valley, with officials confirming that November 25 will likely be the last working day for students at this level.

According to officials who spoke to ProKashmiri, the move follows internal discussions within the Education Department and increasing concerns from parents as temperatures continue to dip across Kashmir.

They said the Directorate of School Education Kashmir has been closely monitoring the weather pattern and reviewing requests submitted by several parent groups.

Officials said that the decision was driven by the need to protect younger children from harsh early-winter conditions. “The weather has become too cold for kindergarten students, and it was felt appropriate to close schools earlier than scheduled,” they said. “This step is aimed at ensuring the comfort and wellbeing of children during the ongoing cold spell.”

Parents had been appealing for an early shutdown for nearly a week as morning temperatures dropped further across the Valley, making it difficult for younger students to attend school.

The formal order is expected to be issued soon.
