Srinagar, Dec 26: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday officially released its Annual Government Calendar for the year 2026, marking a step towards greater administrative transparency and structured governance planning.
The calendar was unveiled by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo during a special programme organised by the Administrative Reforms, Inspections and Trainings (ARI & Trainings) Department. Senior officers and officials from various departments were present on the occasion.
Officials said the 2026 Annual Calendar has been designed as a comprehensive month-wise reference document for government functioning. It includes important official events, public holidays, administrative milestones and key development timelines planned across the Union Territory during the coming year.
The calendar highlights several major infrastructure and development projects undertaken by the government. These include the inauguration of the 6.4-kilometre Z-Morh Tunnel at Sonamarg, which aims to provide all-weather connectivity, and progress on large-scale initiatives such as the Katra–Srinagar rail link and the Shahpurkandi Dam project.
It also reflects the government’s focus on employment generation through flagship initiatives like Mission YUVA, which targets the creation of lakhs of enterprises and jobs over the next few years. Officials said the calendar showcases milestones achieved under various economic, social and infrastructure sectors.
Apart from development projects, the calendar documents cultural and social initiatives, including the restoration of heritage sites like Mubarak Mandi Fort and the development of new tourism destinations such as Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood in Srinagar. It also highlights advancements in the health and education sectors, including the establishment of the State Cancer Institute in Jammu and the sanctioning of new government degree colleges.
On the occasion, the Chief Secretary also launched digital governance initiatives, including an online portal for processing recruitment rules and a digital service for issuing No Demand Certificates (NDCs). Officials said these initiatives are aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and ease of access to government services.
The government stated that the Annual Calendar will serve as a guiding document for departments and officials while also keeping citizens informed about key government plans and priorities for 2026.
