JKSSB SI Recruitment 2025: New Vacancy Announced, Check Age, Qualification, Date
Srinagar, 26 November: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued a major recruitment notification for 83 Sub-Inspector (Telecommunication) posts in the Home Department. The advertisement, published under Notification No. 11 of 2025, has opened up opportunities for engineering graduates looking to join the police telecommunication wing.
The online application process will begin on December 15, 2025, and remain open until January 13, 2026.
According to the notification, only domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir are eligible, and applicants must possess a valid domicile certificate by the last date of application.
The upper age limit for Open Merit is 28 years as of January 1, 2025, while reserved categories and certain service groups will receive relaxation as per rules. The application fee has been fixed at 700 for the Open Merit category and 600 for SC, ST-1, ST-2 and EWS applicants.
The posts are technical in nature and require a four-year engineering degree. Candidates with B.E or B.Tech in fields such as Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Telecommunication, Information Technology, Mechatronics, Data Science, Electrical and Electronics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning or Cyber Security are eligible to apply.
JKSSB has made it clear that the required qualification must be in hand before the closing date.
The recruitment process will begin with a written examination consisting of objective-type questions. The paper will be in English and will include negative marking of one-fourth mark for every incorrect response.
The board will also award bonus marks to candidates holding NCC certificates, with 5 percent for NCC C holders, 3 percent for NCC B and 2 percent for NCC A.
Candidates who qualify the written test in large proportion to the vacancy count will move to the Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test. These tests are mandatory and qualifying in nature. For male candidates, the minimum height requirement is 5 feet 6 inches, while females must have a minimum height of 5 feet 2 inches.
The rules carry relaxations for Gorkha and Bot tribes. The endurance test will involve a timed race, push-ups for male candidates and shot-put for female candidates, with separate relaxations for ex-servicemen.
The board will issue the detailed syllabus for the written exam separately on the official website, and candidates have been advised to monitor the site closely.
JKSSB has also urged applicants to avoid last-minute submissions, noting that heavy traffic on the final days often causes login issues. Only one application per post-item is allowed, and duplicate forms may lead to disqualification.
The Home Department has been filling technical posts at a much faster pace in recent years, and this recruitment drive is expected to attract a large number of engineering graduates from across J&K.
With the telecommunication division playing a crucial role in police communication, surveillance systems and cyber operations, the new SI recruits will eventually contribute to strengthening the force’s technical backbone.
JKSSB will release further updates, including exam dates and centers, on www.jkssb.nic.in. Candidates eager to prepare can begin revising general mental ability, engineering basics and communication technologies, as these topics traditionally form the bulk of telecommunication exams.
