Budgam Bye Election Live: PDP Ahead as Counting Enters Final Rounds
ProKashmiri.in continues its real-time coverage from the Budgam counting centre, where the battle for Assembly Constituency 27 has entered a crucial phase. With 13 out of 17 rounds completed, the trend has strengthened in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, who has now widened his lead even further.
According to the latest data released from the counting hall, PDP’s Muntazir Mehdi has climbed to 20,280 votes, securing 35.76 percent of the total polled votes so far. His lead over the National Conference (NC) candidate continues to grow steadily with every round.
The NC candidate, Aga Syed Mahmood Al-Mosavi, now stands at 15,042 votes, amounting to 26.52 percent. While the NC camp still hopes for a late surge in the remaining rounds, the expanding gap has made the contest increasingly challenging.
A major highlight of this election remains the strong performance of Independent candidate Jibran Dar, who has further improved his tally to 6,258 votes (11.03 percent). His consistent rise has reshaped the electoral narrative, signalling a clear shift in voter behaviour in certain pockets of Budgam.
Another Independent, Nazir Ahmad Khan, is showing steady performance with 2,950 votes (5.20 percent). Meanwhile, Mohd Sameer Bhat, also running independently, stands at 2,486 votes (4.38 percent). Together, Independent candidates now command a sizeable share of the Budgam vote, influencing the overall electoral geometry.
The BJP’s Aga Syed Mohsin Mosvi has marginally increased his tally to 2,224 votes (3.92 percent), while candidates from AAP, J&K Apni Party, RLD, NPP, and other smaller parties remain below the one percent mark individually.
NOTA has recorded 484 votes so far, reflecting a small but notable segment opting for none of the contestants.
Inside the counting centre, officials say the process remains peaceful, tightly monitored, and fully transparent, with observers and agents stationed at every table. Only four rounds are left, and while the broad trend strongly favours PDP, the final picture will only emerge once all 17 rounds are tallied.
