Weather Update for Next 20 Days in Kashmir, Check Here
Srinagar, Jan 1: Kashmir is unlikely to witness any major Western Disturbance till January 20, with only weak and feeble weather systems expected to pass through the region in the coming weeks, meteorological assessments indicate.
Weather experts said that while a few Western Disturbances may move across the region during this period, their intensity is expected to remain low. As a result, these systems are not likely to trigger widespread precipitation or any significant snowfall across the Kashmir Valley.
A weather official told the ProKashmiri that the absence of strong Western Disturbances means dry and cold conditions will largely persist. “With no major system approaching, the Valley is expected to continue experiencing cold nights, especially in higher reaches, while daytime temperatures may remain below normal due to limited winter sunshine,” the official said.
The official added that weak systems may cause occasional cloudiness but are unlikely to bring meaningful rain or snow. This could prolong the dry spell being witnessed across much of the region, particularly in the plains.
Meteorological authorities said they are closely monitoring evolving weather patterns and will issue timely updates if there is any change in the strength or frequency of Western Disturbances approaching the region.
Residents, especially in higher altitude areas, have been advised to remain prepared for continued cold conditions, even though no major snowfall activity is forecast in the near term.
