Important Update: JKBOSE Discontinues Old Syllabus
Srinagar, Jan 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has officially discontinued the old syllabus that was earlier applicable to failure and re-appear candidates, bringing an end to further examination chances under the previous scheme of studies.
Officials said that students of Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th enrolled under the old syllabus had already been provided multiple opportunities to clear their examinations. However, as per existing Board regulations, the validity of the old course structure has now expired and no additional chances will be granted under that syllabus.
In a formal notification, the Board advised all concerned candidates to prepare strictly according to the new syllabus for upcoming Annual Private and Bi-Annual examinations, which will be held after the completion of Summer Zone examinations and declaration of annual results.
The Board clarified that the decision has been communicated well in advance to ensure that remaining candidates smoothly transition to the revised syllabus before appearing in examinations scheduled for 2026 and onwards.
Officials further noted that only a very small number of students remain under the old scheme and continuing with an outdated syllabus is neither academically sound nor administratively feasible.
JKBOSE reiterated that all future examinations for re-appear and failure candidates will be conducted exclusively under the new syllabus framework, and no relaxation will be entertained on this account.
