JKSSB Invites Applications for 621 Vacancies in Health & Medical Education Department: Full Details Inside

Srinagar, 29 July: In a significant move that could benefit hundreds of job seekers in Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced a new recruitment drive under Advertisement Notification No. 07 of 2025. This latest notification pertains to 621 vacancies in the Health and Medical Education Department across UT, Divisional, and District cadre posts.

According to the official communication accessed by ProKashmiri.in, the online application process is set to begin from August 5, 2025, and will remain open until September 3, 2025. The announcement has already garnered attention among aspirants, especially those seeking stable government employment in the healthcare sector.

The recruitment drive is based on multiple requisitions made by the Health and Medical Education Department over the past year. These include references such as HD-FW/16/2023-02 dated 29.07.2024, HD-FW/51/2024-02 dated 14.01.2025, and HME-SKIM/18/2024-02 dated 22.07.2024, among others. The posts are distributed among various institutions including SKIMS, Directorate of Health Services, and district hospitals.

As per the notification, the appointment process will be conducted under the existing rules and regulations applicable in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. All applicants must be domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir and should possess a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority on or before the last date of application submission.

The eligibility criteria vary depending on the post. Positions like Attendant Grade-II, Barber Grade-III, CSSD Attendant, and Nursing Aid Grade-III require a minimum of Matriculation to 10+2 level education, sometimes with professional training in relevant trades. For posts like Female MPHW (Multipurpose Health Worker), a Diploma in FMPHW from a recognized institute is mandatory.

In terms of selection, JKSSB has clarified that the process will be purely merit-based. All candidates will undergo a written examination consisting of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The exam will be conducted in English, and there will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. The syllabus for the exam will be released separately on the official JKSSB website.

The pay scales for the advertised posts range from SL1 (Rs. 14,800 to Rs. 47,100) to Level-2 (Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200), depending on the nature and requirements of the post. A few examples include:

  • Attendant Grade-II: Minimum Matric, Maximum 10+2
  • Barber Grade-III: Matric with professional knowledge of the trade
  • BCG Technician: Matric with one-year BCG vaccination training
  • Female MPHW: Matric with Science and Diploma in FMPHW

It’s also important to note that reservation rules will apply as per the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules. Candidates seeking reservation must ensure that they possess valid category certificates as on the cut-off date.

Additionally, JKSSB has made it clear that the number of posts may be subject to change depending on departmental needs and legal outcomes. Aspirants are advised to keep checking the official website www.jkssb.nic.in for further updates including exam dates, centre details, and release of syllabi.

This recruitment notification is being seen as part of a broader strategy by the J&K Government to strengthen healthcare services by filling long-pending vacancies. The move also gains significance in the backdrop of recent disciplinary actions taken against medical professionals found violating service norms.

As Jammu and Kashmir continues to revamp its healthcare delivery system, this recruitment offers a promising opportunity for skilled and semi-skilled individuals to contribute to public health while building a secure career.
