SRINAGAR — The Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir, has officially launched the admission process for the 2026-2027 academic session. This major announcement covers Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUGP) and 5-Year Integrated P.G. Programs (IG) featuring multiple-exit options, aligning with modern educational frameworks.
Expansive Academic Opportunities
According to the official notification signed by Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Director Colleges J&K, admissions are being offered in over 60 Major subjects across diverse knowledge domains. The process involves 142 Degree Colleges across the Union Territory, with selections primarily based on 10+2 merit.
The Digital Shift: Centralized Registration
Aspirants are required to register via the centralized admission portal at jkadmissions.in, which is scheduled to go live on May 09, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The registration window will remain open until 7:00 PM on May 27, 2026.
A non-refundable registration fee of ₹200 will be charged to all applicants. To minimize errors during the preference-filling stage, the department has advised students to utilize the “Counselling and Facilitation Centers” established at every Degree College in J&K for on-site assistance.
Critical Admission Timeline
The department has outlined a strict schedule to ensure a smooth transition into the new academic year:
- Publication of First Merit List: May 30, 2026.
- First Round Admissions & Fees: June 1st to June 6th, 2026.
- Publication of Second Merit List: June 9, 2026.
- Second Round Admissions & Fees: June 10th to June 15th, 2026.
- Spot Round for Leftover Seats: June 18th to June 25th, 2026.
Academic Kickoff
Classwork schedules differ by region to accommodate local climates:
- Winter Zone Colleges: June 15, 2026.
- Summer Zone Colleges: July 15, 2026.
Mandatory Documentation
Candidates must prepare scanned copies (PDF/JPG format, under 1 MB each) of the following documents for their digital application:
- Class 10th and 12th Marks Cards.
- Aadhar Number and recent passport-size photographs.
- Domicile Certificate.
- Category Certificate (Note: Incomplete or “under process” certificates will not be accepted).
